Reviews – Let’s Have Another One
Steven Lockley – Fatea
“Let’s Have Another One is the third album from Leamington based folk rock trio Firedaze, and on this one they’ve upped the tempo, and the volume.
A fun album by a band who clearly enjoy playing together and I suspect are a lot of fun live.”
Andy Holdcroft – Hot Music Live
“Let’s Have Another One’ is an album we needed from such a band right now, just as the exuberance of live experiences & the joy of communal gatherings seem at last within our grasp. This [album] tends more to the rousing spirit: the very spirited use of stompboxes in lieu of formal drum kits adds considerably to the primal energy which sits very closely under the beautiful melodic structures of the other elements of their sound.”

Firedaze grew out of the ashes of indie, roots rock band Dead After Dark when vocalist Steff and bass player String decided to start a new band. Firedaze was finally formed when Jen Martin joined as a fiddle player. The band has never had a drummer. Firedaze released “Triality Squared” in 2008. The album garnered positive reviews and also streams on folk music websites plus there was BBC regional radio play.
For the next album the band moved from pre-recorded drum tracks to using loops and pedals and triggers to generate drum sounds and rhythms live. Arrangements became more stripped down based more around acoustic guitars. The new sounds led to “Ever After Land” released in 2014. Rock N Reel gave a positive review plus there was radio play on BBC local radio plus a range of new music and folk shows on Community radio stations across the UK.
In addition there were live performances at a range of local events and festivals.
For their last album as a three piece – “Lets Have Another One” – Firedaze turned up the amps and strapped on electric guitars creating a stomping, infectious live sound. Shortly after releasing the album Jen Martin left the band.
Now a duo Firedaze are taking the same energy into writing and recording new album – set for release later in 2026.
Now when playing live – depending on the venue – Firedaze will happily perform either acoustically or electrically ( for a rockier live vibe).
Either way their performance will be spirited and energetic.
